Harry is proud to announce on Friday's Car Concerns the good news in 2009: The auto and mortgage financing division of General Motors Corp. today relaxed credit restrictions for potential car buyers hours after receiving a $5 billion investment from the U.S. Treasury Department. The move by GMAC LLC will broaden the pool of consumers who can qualify for auto financing and could boost U.S. car and truck sales, which are down 16.3 percent this year, and could particularly benefit sales of GM vehicles, which are down almost 22 percent. GM reacted to the Treasury investment by launching a new campaign offering interest rates as low as 0 percent for up to 60 months on cars and trucks such as the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, and Saab 9-3, 9-5 and 9-7X. Advertisement The move by GMAC to lower the minimum credit score required for auto lending to 621 comes two months after the lending company raised the minimum to 700, which froze out about 40 percent of potential customers. Ford Motor Co. met the New Year with a growl, taking the wraps off its high-powered 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang. The supercharged pony car will join the redesigned 2010 Mustang on the floor at Cobo Center during the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit this month. Both will be available for consumers this spring. The new GT500 is the result of the partnership between Ford's Special Vehicle Team and Shelby Automobiles, owned by legendary race car driver Carroll Shelby. Heres an email from a Car Concerns Listener: Harry, Deceptive used car sale on eBay By: toddbone (Consumer) Date: 12/31/2008 2:49:16 PM Member Since: 12/31/2008 State: PA I purchased/won a car on eBay from a dealer in Virginia on Dec. 13, 2008. The car ad stated that the car rode and drove great. I inquired about any frame damage sustained from a previous accident before the final purchase. The dealer said via e-mail that all damage was repaired. Upon delivery of the car to my residence in Pennsylvania, visual inspection confirmed that the car was leaking fuel and trans axle fluid, wires hung from behind the front grille, and numerous warning lights/chimes sounded. I immediately drove the car 4 miles to a local technician specialist for assessment. Enroute, the engine bucked and the driver's side front wheel rubbed when making a right turn. The dealer had issued temporary tags and registration with an incorrect VIN#. I then called the dealer/seller to explain what was evident upon delivery. The dealer said the VIN# problem was a typo and any other problems with the car were not their concern. I said I would send a copy of the repair assessment when it was complete. A few days later, I received an initial repair assessment that confirmed that the car had significant repairs that would exceed $4,500.00 in parts alone, and that the car was not inspectable or roadworthy/safe. There was significant frame damage that had not been repaired as stated by the dealer, and that the air bags were nonfunctional (another inquiry prior to purchase). I reported the findings to the dealer/seller via phone. The dealer hung up on me twice during my attempt to explain the extent of the repairs and my request to return the car for a full refund. I sent a copy of the repair assessment and made a final request for the dealer to accept the return of the car for a full refund. There has been no response to date. I feel that deception and possible fraud is evident despite the "As Is" purchase and would appreciate any assistance that can be provided. Help Harry. I understand that there are many who have done well at eBay Motors, but there are thousands more with stories just like yours. There are eBay Motors Outlaws out there just preying on unsuspecting retail automotive consumer like this case. Trust me, I hear my share on my Car Concerns Radio Show. When purchasing a "BIG TICKET" purchase like an automobile a good rule to go buy is the touch, smell it, inspect it, & drive it. Never pay for the vehicle until you have done these things, run an Auto Check and inspected all the vehicles documents like title, mileage statement, bill-of-sale, ect. Buyer Beware...eBay Motors! If it were me I would call the Attorney General in your state and notify them of your problem. Call eBay to log a complaint and do what you have done so well here, and that is to make the public aware of those eBay Nightmares. Good Luck!
